Summer 2022 Concert

Saturday, 9th July 2022, 7.30pm, Bournville Parish Church, St Francis of Assisi, Sycamore Road, Birmingham B30 2AA.

Programme:

South Birmingham Sinfonia return to Bournville for their first concert since lockdown, with Music Director, Sabrina Ko, and Leader, James Hamilton.

Featuring an exciting programme by Scandinavian composers, the 'Northern Lights' are: Edvard Grieg from Norway; Jean Sibelius from Finland; and Carl Nielsen from Denmark. In Nielsen's 2nd Symphony, each of the four movements represents a different mood: choleric, phlegmatic, melancholic, and sanguine. Grieg's Symphonic Dances include lively melodies inspired by Norwegian folk music. Sibelius' Finlandia remains a powerful anthem for Finnish independence.

This concert is in support of Birmingham St Mary's Hospice.
